How large are the classes?
Six students at most, in every programme. This is the decision the rest of our teaching depends on, so we do not make exceptions to fill a class.
Are lessons live or recorded?
Live, over Zoom. A child who is stuck benefits from asking at the moment they are stuck, and a recording cannot answer back. Contact us if a lesson is missed and we will arrange a catch-up.
What do we need at home to join an online class?
A laptop or tablet with a working camera and microphone, and a reasonably stable internet connection. A quiet spot and a printer for worksheets help, though the printer is not essential.
Can we try a lesson before committing?
Ask us. Trial availability depends on the class and where it is in the term, and we will tell you honestly whether joining midway would make sense for your child.
How do you decide which class my child should join?
We go by the level your child is in and what they are finding difficult, not by a placement test. Tell us both and we will recommend a class — or tell you if we do not have one that fits.
How are fees charged?
Per lesson, billed monthly based on the number of lessons that month. The exact fee is confirmed in writing before your child starts. There are no separate materials charges.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
Let us know and we will arrange a catch-up so they do not fall behind. Lessons build on each other, so it is worth telling us early rather than at the end of the month.
Do you keep parents updated?
Yes. You will hear from us about how your child is getting on during the term, not only when a payment is due. If something is not working, we would rather know early.
My child is doing fine. Is tuition still worth it?
Sometimes not, and we will say so. Where it does help a coping student is in the year before a national exam, when technique rather than content becomes the limiting factor.
Do you guarantee grade improvement?
No, and we would be sceptical of any centre that does. What we can describe is how we teach and what your child will do each week. Tell us what you are hoping for and we will give you an honest view of whether it is realistic.
