The year the habits are set
P4 Science introduces the pattern that runs all the way to PSLE: observe, explain, link cause to effect. Pupils who learn to write a complete explanation in P4 carry that skill through the upper primary years. Those who rely on recall alone tend to plateau in P5, when questions start combining topics.
How we teach it
Lessons pair each concept with the kind of question that tests it. Pupils write their own answer first, then compare it against a model and mark the difference themselves — a step that turns out to matter far more than reading the model alone. With six pupils at most, every child’s written work is seen each week.

Children rarely lose Science marks because they did not know the fact. They lose them because they did not explain it.

Questions parents ask
Is P4 too early for Science tuition?
P4 is the first year Science is examined formally, so it is the natural point to build good habits. Pupils who learn to structure an explanation in P4 spend far less time correcting the habit in P6.
My child enjoys Science but does not score well. Why?
This is very common and almost always an answering-technique gap. Knowing a concept and writing it in the form the marker needs are two different skills, and the second one is teachable.
